Our story begins in 2006 when Ellen and Ari met, working together at a 40-year old advertising institution, specializing in marketing real estate. A mutual love of the 80s and placemaking lead to an unbeatable partnership. Flash forward to 2019—after 13+ years of working side by side, it was time for Ellen and Ari to start their entrepreneurial adventure.

Ellen found a launchpad for her passion for marketing while attending the prestigious New York University. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Media and Communications, Ellen realized she was destined to live in perfect weather year round and returned to her San Diego roots. She soon joined an ad agency, where she spent the next 14 years working her way up to Account Services Director. Ellen led the account team to deliver unrivaled, proven strategy and highly engaging campaigns to clients, including five of the 50 master-planned communities that were on the RCLCO Real Estate Advisors list of top-selling communities

Ardent artist at heart, Ari is constantly creating. Growing up with a strong family of teachers and artists, she was always encouraged in her creative pursuits. From wallpapering her entire bedroom with Got Milk and Absolut campaigns, to making logos for every extracurricular club in high school—all signs pointed her to a career in design. She thrived as an art major at SDSU, where she embraced her passion to tell stories via thoughtful typography and tantalizing visuals. In 2006, she accepted a position as Graphic Designer with an ad agency. 10 years later, she was leading her department as Creative Director on all agency accounts. Her smart, exuberant aesthetic continues to drive captivating, successful campaigns for clients across North America.

Teri has built and activated some of the most valued brands in community and resort development. For 11 years she was the CMO and architect of the Newland Communities brand in 14 states and 30+ communities; prior to that she handled Intrawest’s resort club brand development for a decade. Her company, tst ink, collaborates with respected and innovative community developers, homebuilders and entrepreneurs to identify customer insights and ask “how might we” with a passion and energy to squeeze the best ideas out of everyone and turn those ideas into places and experiences that matter to the people who will live there. Teri is a sought-after and engaging public speaker and facilitator.

Scott is a visual author who thrives while capturing people on location. His work is based in realism. Does this scene feel believable? Recognizable? Our gift and suffering is relationships. The messy, scratched up, dream filled mile markers that drive us crazy and feed our soul. You will find relationship all through his portfolio. His working relationship with Ari and Ellen goes back 16 years and an abundance of plane flights. Scott is recognized for his work nationally in the Ad community for Brands such as Sprint, Andersen Windows, Wyndham, Pfizer and Nationwide Insurance.
Megan’s passion resides where design and marketing meet—and in the intricacies that make them harmonize. After graduating from SDSU with a degree in English and a handful of Daily Aztec bylines, she attended Interior Designers Institute in Newport Beach, where she cultivated her love for aesthetics. She spent the next eight years focusing in the residential real estate world, where she found her niche in combining the analytical with the creative, helping clients implement influential, and engaging marketing strategies with cohesive designs. Inspired by the power of marketing and branding, she created her own consulting business, working with clients through logo creation, brand concepts, marketing, social strategy, and implementation. Megan’s dedication to strategy and thoughtful composition allow her to effortlessly convey the look, feel, and voice of a brand across a range of marketing channels.
Traditional and digital illustration, motion graphics, photo retouching, mechanical files and comprehensive sample builds—these have all been George’s specialty for the past 23 years. A graphic artist’s key asset is the ability to adapt to the challenge of every job, and George has excelled at this—from service bureaus to ad agencies, from dry transfer type to setting text in InDesign—always delivering at the highest standard.
Why ‘hearth’?For centuries, the hearth was the central foundation of a home—often the most important feature. Today, the hearth is a warm, welcoming place to gather. A huge piece of what we do—and a huge part of where we’re going—hearth speaks to community.
When were you established?We opened our doors on November 4, 2019—but we've been partners in business for 15 years!
Where are your offices?We work in a 100% virtual office environment. Being fully remote lets us work practically anywhere. In today's world, we believe this is the best way to stay nimble and service our clients both effectively and efficiently. Plus, it brings our clients' costs down, which no one seems to be complaining about ;)
